About this table
- Column groups: Budget grade & score, Chance of an override vote, Reserves, Debt, Taxes & levy, Schools & enrollment, Override & exclusion votes, Ability to pay, Home prices & income, Underwater estimates (6 towns).
- Budget grades, scores, override chances and override-chance points are our own ratings from public data. Underwater figures (6 towns) are estimates of the budget gap if spending keeps its recent pace; they are not reported deficits.
- "Latest year" for budget data is FY2025 for most towns; a few towns have not filed recent years, so their latest year is shown in its own column.
- Vote windows (last 3, 5 or 10 years) run to 25 Oct 2026. A ballot date can carry several questions.
- Blank (-) means no data for that town.
- Sources: MA DOR Division of Local Services (reserves, debt, levy, tax bills, budgets, votes, sale prices), MA DESE (enrollment, teachers), US Census Bureau ACS 2020-24 (income, seasonal homes). Data as of 25 Oct 2026. How the budget grade works · Sources & attribution
